ASSIGNMENT 1A: THE 10 ARTWORKS
For the first assignment of Introduction to Design, I had to prepare 10 artworks that express the basic elements of design. The elements that need to be shown in the artworks are as follows:
1. Nature Line
2. Nature Organic Shape
3. Nature Texture
4. Nature Form & Hue
5. Nature Abstract artwork
6. Built Environment Line
7. Built Environment Geometric Shape
8. Built Environment Texture
9. Built Environment Form & hue
10. Built Environment Abstract Artwork
Few weeks before submission, we were guided by out tutors about our progress during tutorials. We had to choose our subject material within Taylor's University, and show it during tutorial to get approval. I got to walk around and discover the nature and built environment of our campus. We were also required to photograph our subject as proof.
REFLECTION
Throughout this project, I have learnt a lot about design principles and elements, and how different techniques affect the outcome of the drawing. I have also improved my sketching skills and learned new techniques such as cross-hatching, stippling etc. Not only that, it was my first time trying out abstract art and it was an interesting experience for me. I think it was really a good project to introduce us to the module, Introdutcion to Design, as it taught me all the basic elements of design.
